French confit pot with double handles in a natural, rustic coloured glaze and number four inscription. Confit pots were originally made for culinary use and were staples of the French kitchen. The word ‘confit’ comes from the verb confit, to preserve, and jars were either stored in a cold larder or buried in the ground. Confit pots now serve as a wonderful vase for flowers, for storage of kitchen utensils or simply as decorative objects. This beautifully unique piece is full of inherent character to add history, texture and colour to an interior.
Condition: There is a crack on one side of the pot as shown. Please study images carefully to ensure you are happy with the condition.
